South Asian Police Officer's Association VPD
creating stronger connections and a safer, more inclusive future for everyone
SAPOA aligns with the VPD’s strategic priorities related to diversity, public trust, community safety, and fostering a police service that reflects the communities we serve. The association aims to strengthen relationships with Vancouver’s diverse South Asian communities while supporting mentorship, outreach, and community engagement initiatives.

Key objectives of SAPOA include:
• Operating as a non-profit association with voluntary membership open to all VPD personnel (Sworn and Civilian).
• Enhancing trust and collaboration between the VPD and South Asian communities.
• Supporting scholarships, charitable donations, and fundraising initiatives.
• Providing mentorship and support for new recruits and Special Municipal Constables.
• Partnering with the Recruiting Unit to support outreach within South Asian communities interested in policing careers.
• Building a social media presence to support awareness and community engagement.
The establishment of SAPOA represents an important step in continuing to strengthen community based policing through outreach, education, mentorship, and collaboration. Through these efforts, the association hopes to contribute positively to both the VPD and the broader community we serve.
